This tutorial was written in PSP X. You should be able to achieve similar results in other versions. You may need to search for some of the effects in your PSP's dropdown lists or the Help window. Please do not offer any of the supplies for download anywhere, do not change file names, do not send the webpage through emails, and only offer a text link to the tutorial URL. I do not wish my tutorials to be translated. Thank you for your courtesy...God bless, Diana

1) File/New: 600 x 600, Raster Background, Color = WHITE.
Make sure your Layer Palette is open, if not, View/Palettes/Layers (or click your F8 key, the shortcut).
Remember to save your work frequently (.pspimage).

2) Set Foreground to #808080 and Background to Gradient in the Materials Palette. Find Gold in the Gradient dropdown list.
Angle to 0, Repeats 0, Style=Linear (see screenshot below).

Click on Text Tool and find the KR Easter Windows font. Using values in screenshot, type an F (upper or lowercase the same).

Objects/Align/Center in Canvas.
Right click on layer in Layer Palette and Convert to Raster Layer.
This will be our outline (template) and we do not want to floodfill on this layer.

3) With Magic Wand (Tolerance and Feather=0), click outside of the image created.
Selections/Invert.
The marquee (marching ants) will now be around the letter F we created.
Selections/Modify/Contract 1.
Add a new Raster Layer.
Find pattern Colorful Lens in your Material Palette: Angle 0, Scale 50, and floodfill.
Adjust/Blur/Gaussian Blur: Radius=2
Layers/Arrange/Move Down.
Don't deselect yet.

4) Add a new Raster Layer.
Find gradient Rainbow Pastel in your Materials Palette: Angle 0, Repeats 0, Invert UNchecked, Style Radial and floodfill:

Adjust/Blur/Gaussian Blur: Radius=20.
In Layer Palette change Blend Mode from Normal to Screen.
Don't deselect yet.

5) Add a new Raster Layer.
Change gradient to Angle 180 and floodfill.
Adjust/Blur/Gaussian Blur: Radius=20.
In Layer Palette change Blend Mode from Normal to Color(L). Deselect (Selections/Select None).

6) Click on the top layer in your Layer Palette (should be your outline/template) to activate.
With your Magic Wand (Tolerance and Feather still set to 0), click inside the area outlining the dove.
Add a new Raster Layer and floodfill with #ffffff, white.
While still selected click on Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel and apply these values:

Layers/Arrange/Move Down.
Deselect (Selections/Select None).

7) Click on the top layer in your Layer Palette (should be your outline/template) to activate.
With your Magic Wand (Tolerance and Feather still set to 0), click inside the area above and between the dove's wings (it resembles the sun).
Add a new Raster Layer and floodfill with #ffffc0, pale yellow.
In Layer Palette change Blend Mode from Normal to Color(L). Layers/Arrange/Move Down.
Deselect (Selections/Select None).

8) If you'd like to keep these separate layers intact to play with the colors, patterns, gradients later, save now as dove1.pspimage (or a name of your choice).
Save it again as dove2.pspimage (or a name of your choice).
Click on the top layer in your Layer Palette (should be your outline/template) to activate.
Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow with these values:

9) Here's how your file should look at this point. I've named the layers so you can see the order they should be in:

Check your layers that we've changed the Blend Modes on:
Sun layer should be Blend Mode Color(L).
Top gradient layer should be Blend Mode Color(L).
Bottom gradient layer should be Blend Mode Screen.
All other layers are Blend Mode Normal.
Close off the bottom white background, click on any other layer, then: Layers/Merge Visible.
Effects/3D Effects/ Drop Shadow: same as before:
Vert. & Horiz. 0, Opacity 35, Blur 5, Color #000000.
Save your file (can still be called dove2.pspimage).

10) In your Material Palette, find the Gold gradient and change Angle to 45, Repeats to 1, Linear.
Hide (X out) your Merged layer for now and click on your bottom white layer to activate it.
Add a new Raster Layer above the background then click on your Selections Tool.
Draw out a Square about 230w x 230h towards the top left of your working image and floodfill.
Selections/Select None.
On the same layer draw out a Rectangle overlapping the square, about 300w x 245h towards the bottom right and floodfill.
Selections/Select None.
Selections/Select All.
Selections/Float.
Selections/Modify/Contract: 2 then hit your DELETE key.
Do not Deselect yet.

11) In your Materials Palette find the Rainbow Pastel gradient again.
Change Angle to 90.
Repeats = 0.
Check the Invert box.
Style = Linear.
Add a new Raster Layer and floodfill with the gradient.
Effects/Edge Effects/Enhance More then repeat this effect.
Selections/Select None.
In your Layer Palette change Opacity of this rainbow layer from 100 to 60.
Layers/Arrange/Move Down (should now be below the 2px gold outline we just created).

12) Click on your 2px gold outline and apply the following Drop Shadow:
Vert. & Horiz. = 2.
Opacity = 35.
Blur = 5.
Color = #000000.
Here's how those 2 layers should look:

Hide (close off) your white background layer (your Merged dove layer should still be hidden).
Click on either of the 2 layers we just created and Merge/Merge Visible.

13) Click on your background layer to activate then add a new Raster Layer above it.
In your Materials Palette find the Rainbow Pastel gradient again.
Change Angle to 0.
Repeats = 0.
Check the Invert box.
Style = Linear.
Floodfill your new layer with the gradient.
Using your Selection Tool, draw out a Square about 400w by 400h.
Selections/Invert then hit your DELETE key. Selections/Select None.

14) Effects/Artistic Effects/Halftone (Halftone was not available until PSP8, so if you don't have it, skip this step) using these values:

15) Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow:
Vert. & Horiz. = 2.
Opacity = 35.
Blur = 5.
Color = #000000.
You may now Unhide both your dove and background layers.

16) Let's add our text. Find the Porcelain font that was in supplies zip and see screenshot below for values.
In Material Palette change Foreground to the Gold gradient:
Angle = 0.
Repeats = 1.
Invert box UNchecked.
Style = Linear.
Change Background Rainbow Pastel gradient:
Angle = 90.
Repeats = 0.
Check the Invert box.
Style = Linear.
Click on your top layer in Layer Palette to activate so the Vector text added will be on top.

Type your name, phrase, etc. and then Convert to Raster Layer.
Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow:
Vert. & Horiz. = 2.
Opacity = 35.
Blur = 5.
Color = #000000.

17) Arrange your layers on your workspace similarly to my sample, or however suits your taste and then we'll add some brushes of your own choosing. Without giving specifics for each layer, I added a new Raster Layer for each brush I applied, changing my Foreground to the Rainbow Pastel gradient. I changed the Angle and Repeats of the gradient on each layer. I also changed the Size and Rotation on some of the brushes. Some brush layers are above the rectangular boxes and some are below, peeking out from behind. Play around, arranging the layers and the placements to suit yourself.

18) Add your watermark and your Stained Glass Tag is completed!
