***** Thank You, LORD, For Our Westies! *****

Westie Kids Prayer

Now we doggies lay down to sleep,
On a great big bed, all fluffy and deep!
We happily doze in this our shared space
(Our "furless-folk" allowing us this grace).
Trapping their legs under blankets so light,
It is here where we'll all spend this good night.
No one bothering us; who'd be so crude?
But when sunrise comes, "Where's our food?"
We creep up so slowly with our great charm
To put some doggie licks on our human's arms.
Waking up startled (our pink tongues are wet)
They see it's their doggies - no reason to fret!
Morning is here, such a great time to play
(They usually like to share it this way!).
We thank You, Lord, for giving us for free
Our lovely, furless, parents - he and she!
The ones who cuddle us, holding us near,
Whispering quietly, "You've nothing to fear".
So give us sweet dreams, Lord, this we pray
And thank You again for another blessed day!

Getting Into Heaven

A man and his dog were walking along a road.
The man was enjoying the scenery, when it
suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.
He remembered dying, and that the dog had
been dead for years. He wondered where the
road was leading them. After a while, they
came to a high, white stone wall along one
side of the road. It looked like fine marble.
At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a
tall arch that glowed in the sunlight. When
he was standing before it, he saw a magnificent
gate in the arch that looked like mother of pearl,
and the street that led to the gate looked like
pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the
gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at
a desk to one side. When he was close enough,
he called out, "Excuse me, where are we?"
"This is Heaven, sir," the man answered.
"Wow! Would you happen to have some water?"
the man asked.
"Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some
ice water brought right up." The man gestured,
and the gate began to open.
"Can my friend," gesturing toward his beloved dog,
"come in, too?" the traveler asked.
"I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets."
The man thought a moment and then turned back
toward the road and continued the way he had
been going. After another long walk, and at the
top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road which
led through a farm gate that looked as if it had never
been closed. There was no fence. As he approached
the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a
tree and reading a book.
"Excuse me!" he called to the reader. "Do you have
any water?"
"Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there" The man
pointed to a place that couldn't be seen from outside
the gate. "Come on in."
"How about my friend here?" the traveler gestured to
his dog.
"There should be a bowl by the pump."
They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was
an old fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it. The
traveler filled the bowl and took a long drink himself,
then he gave some to the dog. When they were full, he
and the dog walked back toward the man who was
standing by the tree waiting for them. "What do you
call this place?" the traveler asked.
"This is Heaven," was the answer.
"Well, that's confusing," the traveler said. "The man
down the road said that was Heaven, too."
"Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly
gates? Nope, that's Hell."
"Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like
that?"
"No. I can see how you might think so, but we're just
happy that they screen out the folks who'll leave their
best friends behind."

Wild, Wild Westies!

We're the wild, wild Westies of Callaway Drive
Want plenty of attention (we won't be deprived!)
Goin' 90 mph and that ain't no jive!
Runnin', playin', jumpin' we feel SO alive!
I'm Nicky, the big brother, a.k.a. "Friar Nicholas Tuck"
Abby's my little sister, with whom I've been stuck!
You see I'm too playful for just my 'mom' and 'dad'
So they brought home Abby so I wouldn't be sad.
Abby ("Sister Abigail Tuck" ) kinda runs this place
Only 'cause I'm mild-tempered and don't get in her face
You see, I'm bigger than her and sometimes give chase
And, with Westies, stampeding is our ONLY pace!
We love treats and chasing squirrels from the yard
(Man, can they run - so catching them's hard)
We're great little trackers - they better stay on guard
One day we'll catch one, won't we Abby, my pard'?
We love walking with mom & dad thru the neighborhood
(I do more - Abby's scared of strangers which isn't too good)
Saved by 'Westie Rescue' at age 1, what horrors she withstood
My life's been so much easier (I'll just 'knock on wood').
I'm much more sociable and I think that's just great
If you treat doggies kindly, show them love and don't berate,
No better companion is there; our affections won't abate
We just want love, love, love and good food on our plate!
I love my Abby girl and I'm glad she's so happy here
Mommy and Daddy try hard to keep her from fear
But she's afraid of the fly swatter (they're not after you, dear!)
So sometimes it's rough for us doggies (do I have your ear?).
I'm really happy that you took the time to check us out
Just to see what we 'Wild, Wild Westies' are all about
If you hadn't popped in here just now I'd probably doubt
That there are OODLES of Westie lovers, give a shout!
